20 December 2018 WIELKOPOLSKA 1918 SYMPHONY – UNIQUE POZNAŃ PHILHARMONIC CD ALBUM

„Songs from Wielkopolskie Uprising times” and a work dedicated to the heroes of the Uprising, written one hundred years after this event, can be found on the album recently released by Poznań Philharmonic – “Wielkopolska 1918 Symphony”. It begins with eight songs from the Wielkopolskie Uprising times, in new arrangements prepared by young composers (Jan Krutul, Dominik Puk, Marek Raczyński and Jakub Szafrański). The pieces, same as the titular “Wielkopolska 1918 Symphony” written by Marek Sewen, were commissioned by the Poznań Philharmonic.

Poznan Chamber Choir conducted by Bartosz Michałowski recorded the songs, while the Symphony was performed by Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra and Poznań Nightingales led by Łukasz Borowicz.

In the album’s booklet, alongside the information on the works, composers and performers, you can also find a passage on the Wielkopolskie Uprising, the course of events and its meaning for the history of Poland, as well as photo archives from hundred years ago. The premiere of the album, which was released by DUX phonographic label, takes place on the 29th of December 2018 in the AMU Concert Hall at 6 p.m. during a concert entitled “Wielkopolska 1918 Symphony”.

The album can be purchased during the concerts of Poznań Philharmonic and in good music stores.
